Albury Wodonga Community Legal Service

About Us

The Community Legal Service (CLS) is a program funded through the Federal Attorney-General's Department in Canberra.  The Commonwealth Community Legal Service Program specifically funds the program which is administered by Victoria Legal Aid.

Upper Murray Family Care Inc successfully tendered for the provision of a legal service and was granted funding in 1998.  The Community Legal Service was officially launched on 28 July 1999.

Our vision is to ensure just and equitable access to legal resources for individuals in North East Victoria and the Southern Riverina of New South Wales.

Our values include providing safe, reliable and accessible legal services taking into account the diversity of the community.

Our mission is to ensure a range of free legal services are provided to individuals and groups in the community, particularly those on low incomes or otherwise disadvantaged in their access to justice.

We seek to empower individuals and supply them with information that will improve their understanding of their legal problem.  This may mean they are able to resolve their matter without the intervention of lawyers.

We maintain a large range of information resources including material about other services and "self-help" information on the law and related issues.
