Casey Cardinia Community Legal Service
Eligibility
We are a free community legal service providing assistance to people who reside, work or study in The City of Casey (excluding Cranbourne), Shire of Cardinia and Central Dandenong.
Clients ringing from outside the catchment area are referred to the Community Legal Service servicing their area, except where that would cause a conflict of interest for the relevant service.
When clients contact the Legal Service a quick assessment of their problem is made. Matters not requiring legal advice or financial counselling are referred to an appropriate community organisation. Otherwise, a conflict of interest check is completed and an appointment is made.
Clients requiring telephone advice are given the Victoria Legal Aid advice line. If a client requires advice concerning personal injuries, conveyancing, probate or commercial interests they will not be given an appointment, but will be provided with details of at least three private solicitors who can advise on these areas of law.
Clients are not required to undergo a means test for initial advice, however matters requiring ongoing assistance are assessed according to the guidelines outlined in our policy and procedure manual.
