Casey Cardinia Community Legal Service

History

Doveton Secondary College

Casey Cardinia Community Legal Service Inc., formerly known as Doveton and District Legal Co-Operative Ltd, was established in 1977 to provide free legal assistance to members of the local community. The legal service was originally run by law students supervised by Monash tutors and operated for one day and one evening per week.

Since then, Casey Cardinia Legal Service Inc. has expanded, and operates on a full-time weekly basis, with advice and referral being provided on an "appointment only" basis.

Casey Cardinia is one of almost 50 community legal services funded throughout Victoria. We receive our funding via Victoria Legal Aid with funds from both Federal and State Attorneys-General. Since 1996 the Legal Service has received funding through the Commonwealth Financial Counselling Program, now administered by the Department of Family & Community Services.
