Darebin Community Legal Centre
Philosophy
The basic philosophy of the Darebin Community Legal Centre is based on a number of assumptions:
-
Social justice is desirable and attainable and must be championed.
-
People in socially and economically inimical situations do not have equitable access to legal advice and resources in conventional mainstream settings, as is their right.
-
Given appropriate resources, information and the support of experts, gaps and inequities in legal and related system must be challenged and reformed.
Darebin Community Legal Centre interprets its philosophy through its three categories of service activity: casework, community legal education, law reform and relevant action on issues affecting the local area.
