Flemington & Kensington Community Legal Centre
Volunteer Events
For many years the legal centre has organised community events. We are part of this community; many of us live in the local area and see it as a great way to interact with local groups, and community members. For each event organised friends of the CLC, volunteers and staff eagerly participate in getting the event up and running.
Some of these events have been:
24 hour Swimathon Annual Event. This year three local community groups participated in the Swimathon. Each group signed up swimmers, members of parliament, councilors, families and individuals who were allocated an hour, swim, paddle, or simply float for an hour. Local traders, City of Melbourne, support the Swimathon City of Moonee Valley, Kensington Community Recreation Centre and individuals from 4 to 70 years of age. This year we concluded with award presentations and a barbecue to celebrate the end of a long wet weekend.
Celebrating Frank . Frank Hulls lives on and on at the legal centre. In February 2006, the Centre celebrated the launch of Franks mosaic and Linden Tree. Now staff, committee and clients have an area to sit and reflect.
Annual Thai Feast. Our service holds a Thai Feast in the winter months. We all huddle around the open fires and eat wonderful food prepared by Zeke and other helpers. We eagerly await the next one.
