Footscray Community Legal Centre
Want to volunteer? Call 9689 8444!
Our Legal Centre relies heavily on the work of legal and non-legal volunteers. At any one time, over 30 volunteers -- comprising of local residents and workers, solicitors, barristers, law students and other tertiary students -- help the Centre. We take students on placement from a range of tertiary courses.
Day Volunteers are usually rostered for one half day per week. They assist with legal research, administrative and reception work and play in an important role in providing information about services available to the community to help them with their legal or financial problems.
The Centre offers an Evening Advice & Referral Service every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 8pm. We usually roster volunteer lawyers on one evening per fortnight or month and aim to have three lawyers each night.
We ask that volunteers give us a commitment of three months. Volunteer positions for non legally qualified people and law students are limited.
If you would like to volunteer at the Centre, contact our office on 9689 8444.
