Gippsland Community Legal Service
Gippsland Community Legal Service (GCLS) has been in operation since June 2000 . We are an independent non-profit service, managed by Anglicare Gippsland. Whilst we are funded by the Federal Government, GCLS is not a government agency or a part of Victorian Legal Aid.

Our main office is located in Morwell. We also have one lawyer located in Bairnsdale from Monday to Thursday. Outreach sessions at our clinic in Wonthaggi are run fortnightly.

Other services provided
GCLS provides free community legal services to people who live, work or study in the Gippsland region (including BawBaw, Latrobe, Wellington, East Gippsland, South Gippsland and Bass Coast).
We provide:
1) legal information and referral on all areas of law
2) legal advice, subject to a conflict check, on all areas of law except for adoption, child protection, immigration, conveyancing and personal injury (including TAC and Workcover).
3) community legal education
4) law reform and policy work; and
5) legal casework in very limited circumstances
Rights Advocacy and Support Program (RASP)
RASP aims to:
- Raise awareness of human rights, equal opportunity, anti-discrimination and diversity
- Promote the rights and dignity of people with disabilities, and other marginalised and disadvantaged communities (eg: seniors, Koori, culturally and linguistically diverse, etc), through a range of strategies including social marketing, community information, advocacy and casework
- Advocacy and casework is undertaken in the areas of:
- Anti-discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Human Rights and Responsibilities
- Disputes and Dispute Resolution
- Powers of Attorney, Guardianship and Administration
- Referral to the appropriate service provider or statutory body
- Facilitate accessible and expeditious dispute resolution and provide relevant advocacy support in civil matters
