Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service adheres to the following standards in the provision of legal advice and assistance:
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service provides information and/or referrals to people where appropriate and on the basis of need
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service provides advice and casework that is:
- within our area of competence
- clear and up to date
- adequate to establish all of the apparent, relevant legal options and time limitations
- accompanied by any immediate, appropriate support, such as letter writing or referral to other service providers
- provided in a way that avoids conflicts of interest - Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service provides high quality and accessible community legal education to meet the needs of the local community
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service endeavours within its resources to undertake law reform and legal policy to meet the priority needs of the community
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service is actively committed to promoting access, equality and non-discrimination
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service operates in a way that ensures community involvement in the effective and efficient management of all aspects of community legal service delivery. It is accountable to Monash University, Victoria Legal Aid, the City of Monash and its community
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service offers clients and people receiving services the opportunity to provide feedback and manages complaints from clients and others in a prompt, fair and consistent manner
