Wyndham Legal Service Inc. formerly known as Werribee Legal Service Inc. was originally established in 1986 by a group of interested residents, representatives of local organisations and workers from the Western Suburbs Legal Service. For many years the Service operated solely on the strength of its volunteers.

In July 1995, the Service became a separate incorporated organisation under the Associations Incorporated Act 1981 (Vic) managed by a locally based volunteer Committee of Management. The Service has grown steadily since its incorporation.

In December 2005 the Service formally known as the Werribee Legal Service Inc., became the Wyndham Legal Service Inc. to better reflect its target area adequately.
