Client Rights
The Wyndham Legal Service Inc. believes that workers should respect the following rights of clients no matter what the personal beliefs or professional values of the worker may be:
l The client has the right to considerate and respectful service of the highest standard regardless of social status, education, age, race, ethnicity, disability, gender, religious belief, sexuality, political belief or any other values or life experience.
l The client has the right to know the identity, professional status, title and qualifications of the worker responsible for coordinating his/her case.
l The client has the right to privacy during consultation and case discussion. Those not involved in the client’s case (including student volunteers) must have the permission of the client to be present.
l The client has the right of access to his/her client record file except where information is expressly prohibited by law from being disclosed.
l The client has the right to expect that all communications and records pertaining to his/her case be treated as strictly confidential.
l No disclosure of information should be made without expressed or implied permission of the client.
The client has the right to seek assistance from the Manager of the service if not satisfied with the conduct of his/her case and to make suggestions which it is felt may improve the situation.
