Darebin Intervention Order Support Service (DIOSS) - Darebin Community Legal Centre

Darebin Intervention Order Support Service (DIOSS)

What is DIOSS?
Darebin Intervention Order Support Service (DIOSS)
is free court support service for applicants seeking an Intervention Order at Heidelberg Magistrates' Court.

The service can assist applicants (also called complainants) who are seeking an interim (temporary) or final order.

If the defendant (the person you are seeking an order against) is legally represented we can assist in negotiation with them, but we cannot appear for you.

We can ask for an adjournment for you if you need to make an application for legal aid.

  • No appointment is necessary
  • Interpreters can be made available (we need more than 2 weeks notice)

Where are we and when do we operate?
DIOSS operates Monday to Friday at the Family Violence Division of the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court:

First Floor
Jika Street
Heidelberg 3084
8458 2000

After you have seen the Family Law Clerk at the Court Registry you will be directed upstairs to the DIOSS office.

What is different about the Family Violence Court Division?
The Family Violence Court Division of the Magistrates' Court specialises in hearing family violence cases.
In the Family Violence Court Division:

  • There are special support services located at the court to help you with your case including advocacy, referral, increased legal services and links from the court to key family violence organisations in the community
  • There are specially assigned magistrates, trained applicant support workers, family violence outreach workers and additional legal services from Victoria Legal Aid.
