Free lunch anyone?

No such thing as a FREE LUNCH? Not so...

In recent months the Loddon Campaspe CLC and the Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic have been running a discussion series for local lawyers and community workers -- and throwing in a free lunch for good measure.

Since April we've hosted sessions on Police Powers and the Youth Referral Independent Persons Program (YRIPP); Payday Lending, Telemarketing and Mobile Phone Contracts; Discrimination and Victims of Crime.

Please Note: these monthly sessions have been held at St Luke's. But from July onwards they'll be held in the Boardroom at the Advocacy and Rights Centre (1st Floor, 29 Queen St, Bendigo). The Advocacy and Rights Centre Boardroom DOES NOT currently have disabled access. We are happy to change venues to accommodate people with a physical disability, however please contact us as soon as possible if you are concerned about access to allow us time to make alternative arrangements and to inform other participants.

UPCOMING SESSIONS
24 August - Giving the homeless a voice
Presenter: Victorian Electoral Commission
Venue: Advocacy and Rights Centre, 1st Floor, 29 Queen St, Bendigo (Cnr Mitchell St)
With the Victorian elections coming up in November and the federal election also looming, it's timely that community workers and agencies consider how they can help those who are most marginalised in our community to have their say.

21 September - Move on laws
Presenter: PILCH Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic
Venue: Advocacy and Rights Centre, 1st Floor, 29 Queen St, Bendigo (Cnr Mitchell St)
This session will outline current laws in relation to police powers and public spaces. It will cover search powers, public drunkeness, disorderly conduct, random weapon searches, move on powers and young people etc.

26 October - Family law
Presenter: Loddon Campaspe CLC
Venue: Advocacy and Rights Centre, 1st Floor, 29 Queen St, Bendigo (Cnr Mitchell St)
How are homeless people affected by Family Court orders? What are their rights? What needs to be considered when assisting a homeless person in relation to family law?

23 November - Students behaving badly
Presenter: Disability Discrimination Legal Service
Venue: Advocacy and Rights Centre, 1st Floor, 29 Queen St, Bendigo (Cnr Mitchell St)
How do we assist students with a disability who are being bullied? How can we use anti-discrimination laws in this situation? Are there other solutions to school bullying?

Please tell us if you have any dietary or access requirements. For more information or to register, please email the CLC's Community Legal Education Worker Steve Womersley.
