Charter of Human Rights
The Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities (Charter) confirms that all people are entitled to enjoy freedom, respect, equality and dignity. The Charter sets out a number of civil and political rights that are relevant to people with mental illness, including:
- Feedom from Dscrimination
- Equality before the Law
- Right to a Fair Hearing
- Freedom from Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment
- Freedom of Movement
- Privacy and Reputation
- Right to Liberty and Security
- Humane Treatment when Deprived of Liberty
