The following factors are relevant to the decision whether a casework matter will be taken on:
Whether the case is within one of the Centre's areas of expertise.
The likely benefit to the person of having legal assistance.
Whether the case will expand a particular area of the law for the benefit of a section of the community.
The strategic value of the case and how it relates to the law reform and community legal education work of the Centre
The person’s capacity to pay
The availability of assistance from other appropriate sources such as:
Victoria Legal Aid
other community legal centers
pro bono solicitors, or
private solicitors
