Human Rights
Human rights promote the inherent dignity and equality of all people, including people with mental illness.
The human rights of people with mental illness must be appropriately protected in light of both the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities (Charter) in Victoria and Australia’s human rights obligations under international law.
Click on the left-hand side to find more information about how the Charter and international human rights are relevant to people with mental illness.
The Mental Health Legal Centre also engages in human rights policy work.
