About us

The Western Suburbs Legal Service opened in 1978 and has remained an independent non-profit community organisation. We are committed to providing free legal advice and assistance to people who live, work or study in the Western Suburbs, particularly in the city of Hobsons Bay.

We don't just provide legal advice, but work to educate people about their rights and campaign for changes to the law. We also train law students to become lawyers. We only have a small number of paid staff, so the service relies on the work of volunteers - lawyers, students and local people. An elected Committee of Management supervises the service.

Hours of Operation:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9.30am-1pm and 2-5pm (closed Friday)
Night Service: Monday, Tuesday 7-9pm (appointments are necessary)
